The Research Application Portal is the preferred method for students to express interest in joining faculty research groups. Twice a year, Astronomy faculty post short descriptions of projects available. The descriptions cover desired qualifications, number of positions, support options, and a summary of the science topic and goals. Students rank their top choices and submit a CV, transcript, and one-page narrative of their experience and research skills.

Current call for applications: Projects beginning Summer/Fall 2024

• Project announcements are available at the link above.
• Applications are due by Friday, April 12.
• Decisions should be available by the end of the semester.
• There will be another application deadline in November 2024, for projects starting in Spring 2025.
• You will be asked to upload a single PDF consisting of a short (less than one page) summary of your research skills and/or motivation to learn research skills in the projects selected. Briefly describe your goals for doing research and your plans for after graduation. Please attach an unofficial transcript to your document and upload the single PDF file.
