Fall/Winter 2003 mirror grinding class

Overview of required equipment, etc

Finally, you need to start collecting the items on the following list.
START TODAY! Some will be free or quite cheap. You will all need them
to keep your own grinding supplies:

  THINGS YOU WILL NEED:
  ---------------------
Notebook and pen (to document your progress)
Plastic bucket (big enough to wash the mirror in)
  Scrub brush (new, and clean)
  Old Toothbrush
  Small sponges (at least 4)
  Paper towels (1 roll)
  Old cloth towels (wash first)
Coarse and fine sharpening stones ($3 at Menards)
Tupperware container (big enough to hold mirror)
  Spray bottle (to spray water)
Small screw-top glass or plastic containers (5)
Zip-loc bags (big enough to fit the screw-top containers in)

The cost of these things is up to you. You may be able to get most of
them for free. If you find a great deal on a large quantity of them,
remember that there are 10 people in the class and others will also need
them. Let others know. If you have a car, take others along so they
can get their supplies, too.
PLEASE work together. I'm including all the email address of those who
are grinding mirrors, and hopefully if you communicate with each other
you can save some money on these items.

Here's a list of things you don't need, but can acquire if you want to
make more (larger!) mirrors after the class is done:

Optional things (I will bring these, but get your own if you want)
  ------------------------------------------------------------------
Small, bright flashlight/penlight (for checking focal length)
  Grinding stand
Drill bits / feeler guages / depth micrometer / sherometer (for
    checking focal length)
  Focault tester
