UIAS / ACM SigMicro EOH Project 1995

This project won third place in the EOH interdisciplinary category, and third place in the Lockmiller Robotics contest.

These past two months were good ones for the club. We had a talk given by yours truly which I hope wasn't too boring. We also took part in EOH. I am proud to say that our project C.A.T.S. (Computer Aided Telescope System) won us and our partners at the Association for Computing Machines 2 prizes. We received third prize in the interdisciplinary category, and also received third prize in the Lockmiller Robotics Contest. The robotics contest won us a check for $100 which will be used to help purchase more parts for the scope. For next year, we have already begun planning an improved tracking system and a CCD (Charged Coupled Device) camera to be mounted on the 12-inch and its soon to be constructed finderscope. I want to offer my personal thanks and congratulations to the project leader Jeremy Hicks on his outstanding job.
