October 7 Club meeting, held an outdoor observing session at the observatory instead of our usual meeting

September 24 UI professor Jim Kaler gave a great talk on general astronomy topics
September 23 Club meeting, made plans for dark site trip, gave an Astrofest summary, etc.
September 12-15 Around 10 club members participated in Astrofest 2002 in Kankakee IL
September 9 First club meeting of the semester, gave intro presentations etc
September 6 Observatory Open house
August 27 Quad day! Several club members setup a booth at quad day and signed up interested people for the club and added them to the email list. We also had people doing solar observing over at the observatory as an open house for much of the day.
August 12 Perseids meteor shower! Several club members went to the dark site to watch the meteor shower. The weather was so-so with some patches of clouds for part of the night, but we got to see a few very bright meteors through the night along with the occasional satellite and various other astronomical goodies.
May 3 Observatory open house
April 17 Professor Dickel's class went out to the dark site to view all 5 of the naked eye planets in a line, which only happens this nicely once every 40 years or so. Severl club members joined the trip and brought along 4 or 5 telescopes and binoculars to view them with.
April 6-7 John Dobson the famous amateur astronomy popularizer came to visit with us and gave nice lectures on cosmology, telescope building, and joined us on the night of April 6th for a star party at the observatory along with many members of the CUAS club.
March 25 Club meeting, with a workshop on "Amateur Telescope Making" presented by Mike Lockwood.
March 11 Club meeting, with a "CCD Imaging and Image Processing" workshop presented by John Stone.
March 8-9 2002 Engineering Open House, the club presented projects on "Space dust collection", "Webcam-based astrophotography", and "Sounds of space".
March 1 Observatory Open House, saw Jupiter, Saturn, the Orion Nebula, lots of great stuff!
February 25 Club meeting, with a "Film Astrophotography" workshop presented by Amy Eisin.
February 11 Club meeting, with a talk by UI Professor You-Hua Chu on "Stellar Forensics -- Circumstellar Nebulae Illuminated by Young Supernovae".
February 1 Observatory Open House, saw Jupiter, Saturn, the Orion Nebula, lots of great stuff!
January 28 Club meeting, 8pm Room 134 Astronomy Building. Stuart Levy will be giving a "Learn the Sky" workshop.
January 14 First club meeting of the semester, gave talks on Webcam-based astrophotography and Engineering Open House topics.
